Astagar Snake Mech, Part 1
So, as announced last week, the official Kickstarter effort for the Astagar will launch at the end of this month.
Let's visit one of the crown jewels of the effort, the Volos mecha, a large mecha patterned on the Astagar physique.
The Volos was sculpted a few years ago. A search through my blog will show that it has patiently awaited its turn for production.
Now that the Kickstarter is going to launch, I'm delighted to see it make its way to you, the builders and painters.
I really believe you're going to love it.
Here are some preliminary pictures of the Volos...
Here you can see the nasty, gnashing claws of the Volos Assault Mecha. It was quad stunners on the support pod mounted over its jetpack.
Yes, jetpack. Craig and Dale asked for a Snakemech with jumpjets. The idea was so audacious, I had to do it. I love the result, too.
Here's a side-by-side comparison with the Zas Vanguard Fire Support Mecha.
The Volos is capable of dishing out some long range heat of its own, though. Here's the Volos Support Mecha, again side-by-side with a Vanguard.
Here are close-ups of the Volos Support Mecha. Those 1/8" ball and socket elbow points are compatible with anything in the Critical Mass Games Mecha Workshop.
We'll explore that modularity, and play around with some possible upgrades next blog post.
Also, some pre-production samples, courtesy of Critical Mass Games.
Best,
JBR
