RIP: John Steakley

The Science Fiction world lost another one of its shining lights on November 27th, 2010, when John Steakley, the writer of "Armor" and "Vampire$", succumbed to a long illness.

Armor is considered to be one of the quintessential books about armored infantry.

Vampire$ was the basis for the modern-day film "John Carpenter's Vampires."

Rest in Peace, Sir. Thanks for the inspiration.

Here's Mr. Steakley's obit in the Dallas Morning News.

Here's John Steakley's official unofficial site.

Best,
John Bear Ross
