Happy Independence Day
Just to highlight how good life is here in the States, it helps to point out what helps make it happen.
To quote George Orwell, "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
In that spirit, and as a former Marine myself, allow me to introduce the grunts and docs of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. They're currently on patrol, with 100 pound packs, looking for Taliban in the 100 degree heat of Afghanistan. As you're knocking back the cold ones tonight around the BBQ, raise a glass or two to those still on patrol.
